This premier recreation aviation event takes place each year on the weekend following July 4. Over 1000 aircraft of all type participate, so there is something for everyone. This event includes an airshow, street fair, Fly-Mart (think flea market for flight enthusiasts!) and plenty of activities for the kids.
Ski to Sea Race & Fairhaven Festival
This multisport race takes place on Memorial Day Weekend. Teams of 3-8 race from Mt. Baker to Bellingham Bay. The race includes skiing, running, biking, canoeing and kayaking. After the race, enjoy the Fairhaven Festival. All day Sunday there is a celebration including live music, a wine and beer garden, kids activities and food booths.
This event is held first weekend of November. It features visual, literary, musical and culinary art of the area. It includes an invitational art show, live music, merchant exhibits and artist demonstrations.
Festival of Family Farms
Each October this festival celebrates the bounty of the Skagit Valley and the important connection between the community and small family farms. The weekend includes farm tours and exhibits that are fun for the whole family. Pick a pumpkin at the pumpkin patch, get lost in a corn maze or visit the harvest market.
Skagit Valley Tulip Festival
Every April, the Skagit Valley comes alive with millions of colorful blooms. Since 1984, this has been a destination event in the Pacific Northwest. The tour is best done by car and “bloom maps” are available online. Along with the bloom tour there are art shows, concerts, a salmon barbecue and a downtown Mount Vernon Street Fair.
