Where to Elope on Washington’s Olympic Peninsula

The wild nature of the Olympic Peninsula has called lovers to it’s magnificent setting for decades. Whether you’re an outdoorsy couple looking for somewhere quiet to say ‘I Do’ or a couple who just wants somewhere picturesque for their dream elopement, the Olympic Peninsula is filled with plenty of spots to start your life together.

Hoh Rainforest

Old growth trees coated top to bottom with vibrant emerald green moss create one incredible background. This moody forest is ideal for winter and spring elopements as even the rainiest days provide a stunning background to say, “I Do”. Marry in front of a backdrop seemingly far away without having to hike many miles. The Hall of Mosses loop attracts quite a few visitors on weekends so plan an early morning elopement or prepare to head further into the woods to find solitude. Bonus: After the ceremony, head to a nearby beach to capture additional destination photos of your special day.

Start your honeymoon right at A Hidden Haven Forest Cottages. These secluded cottages and cabins boast hot tubs, fireplaces, private balconies, and a beautiful garden setting. Enjoy your own little slice of paradise on the Olympic Peninsula.

Lake Quinault

On the southwest side of the Olympic National Park, just north of Aberdeen, lies a stunning lake with steep evergreen mountains. Exchange ‘I Dos’ on the lake’s shores, in the Quinault Rainforest, or in front of the World’s Largest Sitka Spruce. If you want a folksy-vibe, head for the Kernster Homestead Trail. Escape the crowds and head down the Maple Glade Rainforest Trail. Hold your intimate ceremony in front of Merriman Falls. The possibilities are endless.

Hurricane Ridge

Start your life together on a high note. On Hurricane Ridge, you’ll feel like you’re on top of the world. This is the most popular destination in the park so plan an early morning sunrise elopement or venture out on one of the trails to find a peaceful escape. A 1.5 mile trek to Hurricane Hill leads to the top of a peak with expansive views. Alternatively, a quick, but steep hike to PJ Lake will reward you with an alpine lake and stunning views. Make your elopement as simple or adventurous as you like!

Stay at Greenhouse Inn by the Bay while visiting the Olympic Peninsula. Their large rooms with ocean views welcome you. Take a kayaking expedition, bike along rural trails, and visit area farms.

Point Wilson Lighthouse

This 1879 lighthouse on the upper tip of Port Townsend is one of the most picturesque spots around. The Point Wilson Lighthouse sits on the peninsula that overlooks the waterway connecting the Puget Sound and the Straits of Juan de Fuca. It offers a unique nautical backdrop for your elopement. The lighthouse only permits small two person ceremonies along the rocky shoreline. Take your wedding photos around Fort Worden State Park and the Victorian town of Port Townsend.

Lake Crescent

Lake Crescent has attracted millions of visitors for it’s sheer beauty. It is a popular wedding and elopement destination just outside of Port Angeles. An intimate wedding on one of Lake Cresent’s docks rewards the lucky couple with one of the best backdrops in the entire Olympic National Park. Sunny summer days reflect the blue sky in the lake broken up by the lush evergreens on the surrounding mountains. But don’t let those gorgeous moody winter skies dissuade you from a quiet season elopement. There’s no such thing as bad weather at Lake Crescent.

Honeymoon at Domaine Madeleine Bed & Breakfast. This romantic getaway overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca offers luxurious rooms and cottages. Add a dozen roses, champagne, or chocolates and start your honeymoon off right.

Rialto Beach

For the couple looking for a beach wedding, it doesn’t get much better than Rialto Beach. Outside of Forks, this magnificent beach is accented by large islands, smooth rocks, large pieces of driftwood, and an evergreen forest. With miles of coastline, you’ll find a secluded spot to host your ceremony. The hole in the wall rock formation could be the perfect natural arch for your elopement.

Seacliff Gardens Bed & Breakfast

You don’t have to hike for a couple of hours or take a water taxi to a remote island to have a stunning waterfront elopement. Seacliff Gardens Bed & Breakfast in Port Angeles overlooks the Strait of Juan de Fuca and hosts one of the most romantic wedding venues on the peninsula. With their inclusive wedding packages couples enjoy the small intimate wedding of their dreams with none of the stress of planning. Simply show up and be pampered! Book a package for two, complete with an officiant, champagne toast, fresh flowers, photographer, couples massage, and breakfast. Or reserve the entire inn and share your ceremony with up to 10 of your closest friends and family.

Honestly, there isn’t a bad place to elope on the Olympic Peninsula. Find somewhere that speaks to you and your partner and head out for the adventure of your life.
